As always we will begin in the fall with a study of Scripture. This year we are studying the Book of Psalms.
Since there are so many translations, we will be using as our common text the Collegeville
Bible Commentary by Richard J. Clifford [Vol. 22: Psalms 1-72 and Vol. 23: Psalms 73-150]. This commentary, published by Liturgical Press, is handy and convenient, costs about $5.00 per volume and uses the New American Bible translation of the Psalms, the translation used in our liturgies.
The Book of Psalms is truly the prayer book of both Jewish and Christian communities. The Psalms embrace the joys and frustrations of the faith journey. We will be especially interested in taking a deeper look at the experience of God which these prayer-poems both presume and prompt.
