George Dennis O'Brien, author of Finding
the Voice of the Church [University of Notre Dame Press, 2007], is President Emeritus of the University of Rochester and author of a number of books, including The
Idea of a University. He takes up three provocative questions: What is the proper voice of the Church? Is there a voice of Christian faith? Can what is said about Christianity be fundamentally distorted by how it is said? For many of us these questions are not new; they are important questions that we as Church need to work through toward resolution. The book has been well received by a broad spectrum of Catholic thinkers ranging from David Tracy to Paul Lakeland and Andrew Greeley.
