Shepherd’s Flock is an intergenerational program that has as its focusing
on, children and young people who are physically and mentally challenged AND
their
families.
It is an umbrella program, offering faith formation and sacramental preparation to children and young people, sibling support, and parent resource assistance and respite. It is grounded in the principles of respect for human dignity, a viable and supportive faith community and a commitment to justice for the disabled and chronically ill.
Another vital component of the program is that of parish advocacy for the mentally and physically challenged and the promotion of inclusion in programs, activities and ministries of the church.
Holy Trinity Catholic Church is now forming a Shepherd’s Flock program which
will begin in September. The children’s curriculum will be fashioned
for the individual child, with groups events, music, prayers and creative activities. This
year, the parent and sibling program will focus on resources and community
building.
