Want to get more involved in the community? Deepen your commitment to social justice? This group gives you the opportunity to follow Jesus’ example by helping the poor and disadvantaged in our midst. All high school parishioners are welcome to join us. We meet once a month to discuss social justice issues followed by service projects in the community related to the issues we learn about.
Several Saturdays throughout the year the Saturday Service Club offers service opportunities to 7th and 8th graders. Whether we’re serving meals to the homeless, making care packages, or sponsoring game nights for the elderly, it’s a great way to learn what your gifts are and share them with the community.
High School Volunteers are always needed to help with the Confirmation Team. Peer ministers help plan Confirmation Sessions and lead small groups.
Once a month, students in grades 3-6 have an opportunity to make sandwiches for the homeless at DC Central Kitchen (DCK). We use this opportunity to talk about homelessness and what it means to ‘serve others’. We invite and encourage parents to join their child in this simple but meaningful activity and participate in our discussion.
When your class is scheduled to serve, please bring at least
1 package of lunch meat
1 package of cheese
1 loaf of bread
For the past 15 years, students have provided meals for SOME one Sunday a month. We also coordinate class service trips to SOME every month to serve the food to the homeless.
Once a month classes rotate hosting a donation drive for different non- profit organizations in the DC area. Many classes do prayer services and reflections for the people receiving the donations before they are sent off.
Please contact the coordinator of Youth Ministries to sign up for any of these service opportunities:
