Need in the Community: With just over 104,000 people near or below the poverty level, the District of Columbia has the 3rd highest poverty rate among cities in the nation. Many low-income people and families in the District live in substandard or dilapidated housing with inadequate heat, cooling and other housing amenities many of us take for granted. While the need is great, volunteers from within our own parish community are eager and able to offer their time to help the less fortunate.
Mission Statement: Hands on Housing shares and lives Holy Trinity’s mission of reaching out to those in need through service. Specifically, Hands on Housing, through its volunteers, provides essential home construction, renovations and repairs to improve the housing of those in need: low-income families, those living in shelters, abused and battered families, the elderly, and the disabled. Hands on Housing provides an opportunity for Holy Trinity parishioners who feel called to serve in this ministry in the Washington, DC metro area. History of Hands On Housing at Holy Trinity.
