Social Justice Ministry Celebrates Community Partners - More than 35 organizations who provide direct service to the poor and marginalized and our advocacy partners came together on October 23 with Holy Trinity’s Social Justice Ministry to celebrate the workers who daily through their extraordinary efforts make things better for another person.
Sr. Mary Bourdon RJM of the Washington Middle School for Girls reflected on our mission:  “I do believe that the beginning of social justice is the profound realization that ‘all is given’.  Isn’t this the truth that not only the goods that we own, the air that we breathe and even our life itself are gifts from God.  If we truly took this in – if we truly believe that ALL IS GIFT – then sharing with others would come naturally.  This is the first moment of social justice….  My hope and prayer is that we will all find moments of holiness and intimacy with God in our daily work of  ‘sharing the grain’ that has been given.”
Ed Metz received the 2010 Ken Jacques Award for his work to increase the impact of the tithe grants during his chiarmanship of the grants committee from 2007 to 2010.  The award is in memory of Ken Jacques and his work for the homeless in the Georgetown area and his work for social justice at Holy Trinity.
